Portland

Recently we were got accepted to the most important conference in our field – The 49th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics: Human Language Technologies. It was set in Portland, Oregon, which meant we got to go to the United states for the first time. :)

It took some time to get there, a total of 23.5 hours travelling, around 13 of them on planes. But it was worth it, the conference and the trip were both excellent.

Stonehenge

On our way back from Bath we also managed to visit Stonehenge. Essentially a pile of rocks in the middle of an empty field between two highways. But it is also one of the most famous objects in UK so definitely worth seeing at least once.

The official suggested time for this maze was around 40 minutes. We solved it using a brute-force algorithm in about 15 min. Worked better than expected.. :)
